Celery Root & Asian Pear soup. Super tasty!
Stunning presentation of yellowtail carpaccio. Unfortunately the fish didn't live up to it, but it was fine.

I think this was when we were denying him his last requests. (Half the party's Chaotic, what do you want?); Jev, Storm's rogue; a small herd of some sort of glowing giant beetles we had to herd underground to help some dwarves out; Dog, Peg's... uh, dog; Peg, Dinah's bard.

That butternut squash soup was fantastic. So were my Negroni and my roasted vegetables.

This is what happened when a Manhattan and a Negroni got their sweet lovin' on. Or at least that's basically the gist of Dominic's story of inventing it.

Okay, so it's really really dark at Bourbon & Branch. We were having a great time even without photo documentation.

I got home after spending the weekend at Joe's and found these tiny apples which need to be used up (but which had proven not to be that tasty as just plain eating apples). Also there were some lemons which had been put in the fridge after having a rind slice cut from them for twisting to get the oil atop a Ruby Cocktail.
First thought: Apple lemonade.
I tried squeezing slices of an apple with my lemon juicer and got very little juice and these little bits of apple.
Second thought: apple based cocktail.
Added lemon juice. 1oz Laird Applejack. hmmm, needs sweetness... and 1/2oz Sloe Gin. Stir with ice. Apple garnish.
Way too tart. I put in twice as much lemon as would be optimal, but even so, it needs more sweet & something else going on...
Pour the drink, minus a couple testing sips, back in the mixing cup. Get a fresh chilled glass and sugar the rim with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
Okay, now we're getting closer. Still way too much lemon, but the applejack and sloe gin are working fine together and the sugar rim is great.
Maybe more cinnamon still?
Pour the drink, minus still more testing sips back in the mixing cup. Add the rest of the cinnamon sugar to it and stir with ice. Pour it back into the cocktail glass and try again.
Yes, very close now, but the overdose on the lemon kills this one. Poured out the rest after a little more tasting analysis.
Next time start with 1/2oz of lemon juice and a teaspoon of cinnamon brown sugar. Shake rather than stir.
