In an effort to broaden 2000
Clarification: Fresh corn on the 2000
Fresh corn on the cob is not a band.
It was on a plate.
Not on the jukebox.
Ugh and then Monday came 2000
Ugh and then Monday came and I woke up with a runny nose and aching muscles. Blech. Managed to work a half day, now I'm at home, staying warm and healing myself with my own special medicine: tonic water with fresh lemon, Annie's Mac & Cheese made with soy milk, fresh corn on the cob and weird random music playing on the MP3 jukebox.
So far, my nose has stopped running, but my muscles and joints still ache. I think I need to add asprin to the mix and "turn up the heat"*.
(*Since the heater doesn't actually work, this means closing the door to The Lab, turning on all the computers and ripping more MP3s to add the rest of my CD collection to the jukebox. The music keeps me warm, baby).
What a nice day! I'm 2000
What a nice day! I'm just relaxing, putting my CD collection onto the MP3 jukebox, reading weblogs and following links. I just read all Derek's San Francisco Stories I hadn't read before. I sure do like Derek's writing.
Just had a nice impromptu 2000
Just had a nice impromptu outing with Kristin. She called and said "Want to go to the farmers' market with me?" I was so dazzled with the sudden notion that my sluggish side was unable to rear up and hold me in place at the computer. We walked about outside on this lovely fresh fall day and bought flowers and vegetables. Then we went and had a nice cup of tea together. Ahhh, good to have sane friends with good ideas. I feel ever so much better.

who were debating between voting for Gore and Nader willing to vote Nader for me? Yep, I wanna be a Nader Trader.
On a rainy day like 2000
On a rainy day like this, I wish I had a nice dog to lie down on the floor next to my desk and keep me company. In the absence of a dog in the room, I visited the wonderful Jasper Dog. Good boy.
Dreaming of sunshine 2000
Rainy days make me think of the last perfect day of summer.
Oh, the webcam is turned 2000
Oh, the webcam is turned off because it keeps crashing my computer. Until I get the new PC set up, I'll probably just leave it turned off.
Uncle Larry pointed me to 2000
Uncle Larry pointed me to this great column by Molly Ivins about why you should or shouldn't vote for Nader.
Having an odd day today. 2000
Having an odd day today. I slept in, finally restoring my sleep shortage from the past week, and woke up a little uncentered. I felt like a little leaf blowing around. I did blow in some good directions, though, since I followed Edmond's suggestion and cleaned up the garage a bit and vacuumed the dining room and entry way. So, I was productive. Then I put up some curtains to hide the washer/dryer. I've been meaning to do that for a while.
I had to stand on a chair to put up the curtains and they were new and dropped fluff on the black fabric of the chair seat. Edmond said sorrowfully "I just cleaned those!". I didn't realize he was at least half joking and reacted unpleasantly, making bitchy personal jabs at him. I hate it when I do that. I can't stand the idea that I've made a mistake, so I lash out. He didn't deserve it and it only took a moment to brush the chair with a lint brush and get it nice again. *sigh* So now he's gone off to fulfill the first of many social obligations this weekend and I'm sitting around feeling like a jerk.
It's a depressing day. I have that "oh the weekend will be gone before I know it; Monday is coming too soon!" feeling and am thus preventing myself from enjoying what weekend I have. Part of this is due to the house being really cold because our heater isn't working. I'm sitting in "the lab" because it's the warmest place in the house due to the 4 computers running. What's weird is that it's 70 degrees in here and I still feel cold. I probably should go do something active, but I feel weak and sluggish.
One of those days. I'm sure I'll perk up soon enough. At least I'm up-to-date on my blog reading and I'm about to catch up on entering bills & receipts in Quicken. I can be productive even if I'm a bit gloomy.
Favorite search request which wound 2000
Favorite search request which wound up pointing to MetaGrrrl: medium+breasts. I wonder if they were disappointed when it pointed to a page about doing breast exams?
The same site, SpeakOut.com, also 2000
The same site, SpeakOut.com, also has the VoteMatch Presidential Candidate Selector which tells me that Bill Bradley would have been my best candidate with 66% of our opinions in sync. Ralph Nader comes in at 63%. Gore at 46%. Lieberman at 38%. Browne and Hagelin both at 36%. Keyes, McCain, Buchanan, Phillips and Cheney down in the teens. And then, just to make it clear how much he would not represent me, Dubya comes in at just 10% with a whopping 0% match on personal freedom issues.
Man, I hope Gore does well in the rest of the country so I can vote for Nadar. Like RiotHero, I fear I may have to say "Gore this time, Nadar next time".
Followed a link from WanderingMind 2000
Followed a link from WanderingMind to The Religion Selector, a brief questionnaire which helps you evaluate how well different belief systems match your values. To my surprise, Theravada Buddhism came out as a 100% match. (My other top scores being Unitarian Universalist 93, Humanist 87, Neo-Pagan 87, Atheist/Agnostic 70 and Liberal Quaker 67).
Interesting little test. I recommend it.

Steve is another fine person 2000
Steve is another fine person who'll be in town for Web2000. I really wish I was going to be attending the convention, but I'll be working. I hope to make it up to S.F. for at least one evening of fun with my out-of-town friends.
Wow. Noise Between Stations Blog 2000
Wow. Noise Between Stations Blog is green. I like it. I was ready for a change. Maybe it's political, but even as a fashion statement, it works well.
You know your brain is 2000
You know your brain is too busy if it's 10:04pm and you just noticed you're still wearing your badge from work. I mean, it's clipped to the side of my pocket, but still, I left that office hours ago. Since then I've walked across a rainy parking lot whistling "Singing in the Rain", driven to the other office, talked with uber-programmer Bjoern, stood on a table and wrote on a tall whiteboard, sat on the table and talked some more, drove home listening to John Cleese read The Screwtape Letters, talked with Edmond, had dinner, tested the Palm version of a project, read half the weblogs on my list, did the dishes from dinner and came back up to read more weblogs. You'd think I'd notice a big plastic tag during all that, wouldn't you?
I read a lot of 2000
I read a lot of weblogs. I wish I could get a page of links of those blogs which have been updated since I last read them. And I want this page to be kept on a server somewhere so that if I surf blogs from work, my visits will be tracked. That's what I want.
Jeffrey has been sharing his 2000
Jeffrey has been sharing his thoughts as his mother has been dying. It has been hard to read. I'm glad I read it. I've never had anyone really close to me die. I'm afraid of it. I'm a little less afraid of it now. Thanks, Jeffrey. Take care of yourself.
I helped out a neighbor 2000
I helped out a neighbor tonight. He wanted some pictures taken of him. I'm so kind-hearted, I did it. Not that I would gain any personal enjoyment out of looking at him for a couple hours. Oh my heavens no. Don't be silly.
Ok, I'm not a very good liar.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Jun Suzuki, Total Babe Magnet!

According to the The Dr. Seuss Purity Test, I am 48% sexually corrupt and have a weirdness factor of 34%. Yep. That's about the size of it.

I'm gonna take Jesse James Garrett and his hot date out to an absolutely splendid dinner. It's the least I can do to thank him for creating a visual vocabulary
for describing information architecture and interaction design.
