Books I Have Read 1989

Read in December 1989:
Sourcery by Terry Pratchett
Psion by Joan Vinge (good)
Phylum Monsters
Cthulhu: The Mythos & Kindred Horrors by Robert E. Howard (bad, pretty racist) [but fantastic cover art by Stephen Hickman. If I remember rightly, this piece was exhibited at an art show at a science fiction convention in San Jose and was even more astounding in person]
Enchantments of the Flesh and Spirit by Storm Constantine (good)
Maus by Art Spiegelman (good)
The Way Things Work by David Macaulay
Outlaws of Sherwood by Robin McKinley (good)
Changeling Sea by Patricia A. McKillip
Prentice Alvin by Orson Scott Card
Quake of '89
50 Simple Things You Can Do to Save the Earth
Shopping for a Better World
Field Guide to Little Known and Seldom Seen Birds of North America (humor)
Eyes of Amber by Joan Vinge

[This was actually me being very excited about a cashmere-like shawl which I'd just been given. I was very pleased when Larry put this picture up on Flickr to see the stained glass window which decorated our house for years.]

Blog (noun) A weblog or similar brief journal usually containing links and commentary thereon. Term coined by Peter Merholz.

Visit Typepad or Blogger to start your own. (I began with hand coding, then switched to Blogger when it first became available, then to Movable Type when I wanted more control over my weblog and to have it hosted at a place of my choosing (Hurricane Electric). Since 06/2003 I've used Typepad, a hosted service built by the same folks who made Movable Type, which I love because I don't have to maintain the underlying system).
